Malampaya Gas Returns to Ilijan Power Plant, Cutting Generation Charges

Malampaya gas has returned to power the 1,200-megawatt Ilijan Power Plant in Batangas after a long absence.

The restoration of domestic gas supply is expected to provide relief to consumers by cutting generation charges by about 36 centavos per kilowatt-hour starting September 1.

This development comes as the Philippines increasingly relies on imported liquefied natural gas, whose prices can swing with global markets.
