Manhattan Gold Delivers High-Grade Canadian Gold Results at Jaws Prospect
Manhattan Gold Corporation has delivered more high-grade Canadian gold results from its Jaws prospect in Nunavut, Canada. The latest drilling at Hook Lake project extended the known mineralised system by over 150 meters to the southwest. Notable intercepts included a 25.9-meter hit grading 1.59 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and a richer 6.1-meter core at 3.62 g/t gold.
The company's technical advisor, Eric Sondergaard, said that drilling at Jaws continues to deliver multiple broad gold zones with higher-grade internal cores. The results are thicker and higher-grade than those recorded in nearby historic drilling from 1988, suggesting the company's modern exploration approach is paying dividends.
Manhattan Gold's current program has been designed to confirm and potentially expand on historical work at Jaws, which hosts a non-JORC foreign estimate of 3.4 million tonnes at 2.38 g/t gold for 285,000 ounces of gold. The company's work has also recalibrated the geological map, shifting the interpreted position of the gold-bearing main shear zone by 20-30 meters northwest.
The results land at a time when Canada's vast northern territory of Nunavut is proving to be a hot address for gold explorers, with peers such as Agnico Eagle and B2Gold advancing programs in the region. With the gold price recently pushing higher to over US$4,600 (A$6,400) per ounce, any exploration success is getting a serious second look from the market.
