Markets Mixed as Corn Rises, Wheat and Live Cattle Fall
Closing markets for Thursday, August 6, saw mixed results in various commodities.
On the Chicago Board of Trade, corn futures were up, with September rising by $0.02 to $4.38 and December increasing by $0.01 to $4.61.
Soybean futures also rose, with September gaining $0.02 at $11.59 and November increasing by $0.02 at $11.77.
However, wheat futures declined, with September falling by $0.11 at $6.30 and December down by $0.11 at $6.49.
Live cattle futures saw a significant drop, with October decreasing by $427 to $225.20 and December down by $407 at $224.60. Feeder cattle futures also declined, with September falling by $662 at $341.75 and October down by $747 at $331.95.
From the Wanstead Farmers Co-operative, 2026 crop corn was up $0.02 at $6.02/BU, while 2027 crop corn increased by $0.01 at $6.10/BU. In contrast, 2026 crop soybeans were down $1 at $14.99/BU.
Ontario Pork Reports indicated that the U-S CME price rose to $98.87 U-S per hundredweight, dressed weight, a gain of $0.21 from the previous day.
