Massachusetts Heating Oil Prices Soar on Middle Eastern Conflicts
Heating oil prices in Massachusetts have increased by 30% compared to last year's prices, according to recent data from the Mass. Department of Energy Resources. The average retail price per gallon for heating oil is now $4.54, up from $3.48 at this time last year.
The main cause of the price hike is disruptions in the supply of crude and heating oil due to conflicts with Iran. This has led to higher wholesale costs, which are then passed on to consumers.
Tim Noonan, Director of Sales at Noonan Energy Corporation in Springfield, warned that locking in a fixed rate now can be a gamble, as future prices may depend on the outcome of the conflict.
