McDermott Books $30 Billion Mozambique LNG Project
McDermott has secured a letter of intent from ExxonMobil Moçambique for work on the multibillion-dollar Rovuma LNG project in Mozambique. The project, valued at around $30 billion, aims to produce 18.6 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year.
The contract will see McDermott provide limited engineering and procurement services for the continuation of the midstream development. This work supports the Area 4 partners' progress toward a final investment decision (FID), expected in 2026.
Rovuma LNG is expected to deliver approximately $150 billion in revenues to Mozambique's government over its 30-year life, with an additional $11 billion annually added to the country's gross domestic product (GDP). The project could also employ more than 150,000 people.
