McDermott has received a letter of intent from ExxonMobil Moçambique Limitada to provide limited engineering and procurement services for the Rovuma LNG project in Mozambique. The contract supports the midstream development of Phase 1, which is expected to produce 18.6 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year by 2031.

The onshore development will include twelve modular liquefaction modules and marks ExxonMobil's largest single investment in the project. McDermott's CEO, Michael McKelvy, said that the company's experience on Mozambique LNG and its long-term commitment to the country position it to deliver critical infrastructure supporting Mozambique's emergence as a major global LNG supplier.

The engineering for the inside battery limits (ISBL), including the liquefaction modules, will be carried out by McDermott from its London and Gurgaon offices. Project management will be seconded to the joint venture team based in Milan.
