Mediators Revive Talks for US-Iran Peace Deal
Mediators are making a renewed push to advance an agreement between the US and Iran, according to the Financial Times. This move comes after US President Donald Trump said he had rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and restart talks on ending the war.
The focus will be on the latest amended draft of a proposed interim agreement that was presented to Iran last week at the United Nations General Assembly, an official briefed on the negotiations said. Under the terms of the deal, which mediators hope will revive talks on a final settlement to end the war, Iran would allow the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and Washington would lift its blockade on Iranian ports in response.
The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil price is currently up 0.38% at $88.40. The US Dollar's value also influences the price of WTI Crude Oil, as oil is predominantly traded in US Dollars.
