Metals Market Sees Broad Weakness Amid Lithium Contract Collapse
The metals market saw broad weakness on September 24, with base metals and ferrous metals falling. SHFE copper fell by 0.53%, while SHFE aluminum dropped 0.05%. Lead prices plummeted 0.95%, but zinc rose 0.17%.
Lithium carbonate contracts were hit particularly hard, dropping by 4.59%. Polysilicon futures and platinum-palladium also fell, with the most-traded polysilicon contract down 2.55% and the most-traded platinum futures contract plummeting 3.02%.
The US dollar index rose 0.02% to 101.15, while COMEX gold edged up 0.06%. However, SHFE silver fell 1.04%, with the most-traded SHFE silver contract dropping by 3.21%.
