Metso Wins €40 Million Contract for Swedish Copper Mine
Metso has secured a significant €40 million order to supply copper processing technologies for Sweden's Viscaria mine. The contract marks a major milestone in the project, which is expected to become one of Europe's most important new copper operations.
The agreement involves the delivery of a comprehensive package of mineral processing equipment, including crushing stations, flotation sections, magnetic separators, and filtration systems. The equipment will be supplied through Metso's Plus offering, and the company's involvement in the project dates back to its early stages.
According to Charlotte Odenberger, COO at Viscaria, consolidating the delivery of major process equipment under a single contract will support detailed engineering and procurement while improving execution predictability. The agreement is also expected to help the company secure critical equipment and maintain progress as the mine development moves toward construction and commissioning.
The Viscaria project aims to produce 120,000 tonnes of copper concentrate annually once operational. This would make it Sweden's second-largest copper producer, strengthening the country's position in the European copper supply chain.
