Mexico Greenlights Private Investment in Renewable Energy
Mexico is accelerating its green transition under President Claudia Sheinbaum's energy reform. The government aims to achieve oil production of 1.8 million barrels per day and deploy a $43.6 billion investment package by 2030.
The roadmap includes increasing photovoltaic generation by 140%, geothermal by 90%, wind energy by 70%, and hydroelectric energy by 18% by 2030.
Sheinbaum has opened the country's energy sector to greater private investment, allowing companies to add up to 9.6 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.
