Mexico Power Demand Drives Record US Natural Gas Exports
US natural gas exports to Mexico reached a record high in September, driven by growing power demand. According to data, South Texas flows averaged 5.15 Bcf/d, while West Texas supplies contributed another 2.06 Bcf/d. However, South Central storage levels trailed those of the same period last year.
The strong exports were attributed to increased demand for natural gas in Mexico's power sector. The country's CFE and private generators are ramping up their use of the fuel to meet electricity needs. This trend is expected to continue as winter approaches, further boosting demand for US natural gas exports.
