Mexico Targets 25% Natural Gas Demand Growth with New Development Plan
Mexico's energy ministry has published its 2025-2039 hydrocarbons development plan, aiming to boost natural gas production in line with projected demand growth. The plan targets a 25% increase in domestic demand for natural gas.
According to the plan, power generation is expected to drive industrial and power growth, with demand reaching 5.9 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) by 2025-2039. Industrial gas consumption will also accelerate, while Pemex's demand peaks at 2.4 Bcf/d.
The ministry has identified several key projects to support the growth in natural gas production, including Centauro del Norte, Cuxtal II, and Lakach.
