Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) has increased the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) by Rs 2 per kg, effective from September 1. The revised CNG price in and around Mumbai will be Rs 88 per kg.

The increase is due to higher input costs amid Middle East tensions, which have pushed up the price of natural gas linked to international benchmarks.

MGL supplies CNG to over 13 lakh vehicles across Maharashtra and Karnataka, while also serving around 30 lakh domestic consumers with piped natural gas (PNG).
