Michigan Gas Prices Soar 12 Cents Amid Global Oil Market Turmoil
Gas prices in Michigan have surged by 12 cents since last week, averaging $4.27 per gallon, according to AAA-The Auto Group. This is a significant increase from last month's average of $4.08 and significantly higher than the same time in 2025, when gas prices averaged $3.14.
The national price has also risen by 8 cents since last week, averaging $4.02 per gallon, while diesel fuel has climbed 14 cents to $5.42 per gallon, said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
The sharp rise in prices is attributed to the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries, which are driving up crude oil prices and putting upward pressure on the market. This trend may continue until these challenges are resolved.
