Middle East Alliances Shift Amid Ongoing Turmoil

The Middle East is undergoing significant changes due to ongoing turmoil and shifting alliances.

Three fluid blocs are emerging: the Axis of Resistance, aligned with Iran; the Sunni Diamond, centered on Saudi Arabia; and a coalition of middle powers led by Turkey and Pakistan.

The Axis of Resistance includes the Lebanese Hezbollah, which has played a key role in Syria's fight against rebels and jihadis. Iran is also supporting Ansar Allah (the Houthi movement) in Yemen, further solidifying its influence in the region.

Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, is strengthening its partnerships with Egypt and Pakistan while recalibrating its competition with Turkey into a strategic partnership. These four nations have formed what's been referred to as the 'Quartet', tapping into closer ties with other governments in the Middle East and North Africa to enhance cooperation and coordinate crisis responses.
