The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has escalated as Ukraine's military operation targets Russian shipping in the Black Sea, prompting a strong retaliatory response from Moscow.

According to military expert Stavnitser, the Kremlin's actions are likely a direct consequence of Ukraine's Operation MoLoChKa, which aims to dismantle Russia's control over occupied territories. However, Russia's focus is on obstructing Ukraine's ability to export its vital grain supplies, particularly during its summer harvest season.

Volodymyr Slavinskyi, trading director for Nibulon, one of Ukraine's leading grain exporters, emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating it is 'the most sensitive period' as farmers race against time to harvest grains and ensure they can sell their produce. The conflict has severely hampered Ukraine's export capabilities, with reports indicating its total export potential has fallen by at least one-third since Russia's full-scale invasion.
