Middle East Conflict Sparks Global Energy Crisis
Crude oil prices and tanker rates have skyrocketed due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, causing global energy markets to become increasingly volatile.
The Iran war has resulted in a new shortage of crude oil in the market, leading to higher prices for Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs). Rates for VLCCs have increased by over 12 times in just three months, reaching as high as $1 million per day on the most expensive routes.
The impact of the conflict has spread worldwide, pushing daily tanker rates to record highs. Diesel prices in the US rose another penny to $6.52 per gallon on Monday, while Kansas gasoline prices averaged $4.17 a gallon, 30 cents lower than the national average.
