Middle East Tensions Drive Gas Prices Higher Across US
Global energy markets are under pressure due to ongoing unrest in the Middle East, causing crude oil prices to rise. According to AAA, this has led to higher gasoline costs for drivers across Georgia and the US.
The national average price of regular gasoline reached $4.11 per gallon this week, with most states averaging $4 or more per gallon. In Georgia, the most expensive metro markets are Brunswick ($3.97), Atlanta ($3.95), and Hinesville-Fort Stewart ($3.94).
AAA encourages drivers to shop around for the best deals and use fuel savings programs whenever possible. 'What drivers pay at the pump is still closely tied to crude oil prices,' said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA, The Auto Club Group.
