Middle East Tensions Fuel US Stock Decline Amid Rising Oil Prices
US stocks declined at the opening bell on Monday as hopes for a breakthrough in the Middle East faltered and inflation worries persisted. This led to higher oil prices, which in turn pressured US equities. The Nasdaq 100 Index futures tumbled 0.96% by 7:08 am in New York, putting an end to its two-session winning streak. Chipmakers like Arm Holdings Plc, Intel Corp., and Marvell Technology Inc. were among the biggest laggards.
The S&P 500 Index contracts also fell 0.5%, as investors remained cautious about the escalating tensions in the Middle East. The region's stalemate continues to impact global markets, with oil prices rising due to concerns over supply disruptions. This has put pressure on US stocks, which had been showing signs of resilience despite the ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.
