Middle East Tensions Send Oil Prices Soaring

Iran's President Masud Pezeshkian has reiterated that his country is not seeking nuclear weapons, despite some lawmakers pushing for a bill to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. This move comes as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors voted to refer Iran's nuclear issue to the UN Security Council.

Meanwhile, Yemen's Houthi rebels have reached the strategic island of Perim in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, potentially strengthening their grip on one of the world's most important shipping routes. This development has raised concerns about disruptions to shipping through the Red Sea.
