Middle East War Escalates as Houthis, Saudis Trade Strikes Across Border
Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis have exchanged fresh strikes across their border, escalating the Middle East war that threatens global oil supplies.
The fighting has driven thousands of Yemeni civilians to flee by boat through the Red Sea, with over 100,000 displaced since the latest escalation last week. The Houthi-controlled television reported Saudi airstrikes in Hajjah province near the Saudi border and Taiz further inland to the south.
Saudi Arabia's civil defence said a Yemeni living in Saudi Arabia had been killed by debris from a drone intercepted over the western city of Taif, while more than 80 people were wounded. The US Navy is guiding ships through the Strait of Hormuz and imposing a blockade on Iranian ports, which Iran says will remain shut until Washington lifts it.
