Midland Terminal: A Critical Hub for America's Energy Needs

In the heart of West Texas, at one of the largest crude oil terminals in the country, Plains All American Pipeline's Midland terminal processes a staggering amount of energy. According to Vice President Robert Nobles, their facility handles around 5% of daily U.S. oil liquids consumption.

The terminal sits in the middle of the Permian Basin, the leading oil-producing region in the United States, and connects West Texas oil production with refineries, storage facilities, and export markets.

Pipelines are the safest mode of transportation for hydrocarbons, says Nobles. They allow products to move efficiently, safely, and at a lower cost compared to other modes of transportation.

The refining and petrochemical industries turn crude oil into everyday items, from cell phones to healthcare supplies. In fact, according to Nobles, gasoline is just a small portion - less than 50% - of what's produced from a barrel of oil.
