MidOcean Energy Secures $4 Billion for Global LNG Expansion
MidOcean Energy has successfully closed over $4 billion in equity commitments as part of its 2026 capital raise, exceeding its original target of $2 billion. The company's growth strategy involves expanding its global liquefied natural gas (LNG) portfolio through a combination of operating assets and development-stage projects.
The additional funding will allow MidOcean to increase its balance-sheet flexibility and pursue a range of growth opportunities, including the acquisition of new LNG assets and investments in development-stage projects. The company has already assembled an LNG portfolio with interests across Canada, Australia, the United States, and Latin America, as well as an LNG shipping and marketing presence in Singapore.
MidOcean's CEO, De la Rey Venter, stated that the capital raise will further strengthen the company's financial flexibility and position it to continue advancing its growth strategy. R. Blair Thomas, Chairman of MidOcean Energy and Chief Executive Officer of EIG, added that the company believes LNG will play an essential role in supporting energy security and global economic growth.
MidOcean is backed by EIG, which specializes in energy and energy-related infrastructure investments. EIG had approximately $27.1 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026, and has committed over $55 billion to 429 projects or companies across 44 countries and six continents during its 44-year history.
