Mitsubishi Doubles Down on LNG Canada Expansion
Mitsubishi Corporation has reached a final investment decision to expand its LNG Canada project in Kitimat, British Columbia. The expansion will double production capacity from 14 million tons per year to 28 million tons per year.
The total cost of the expansion is estimated at several trillion yen, with Mitsubishi Corporation committing ¥500 billion (approximately $3.2 billion).
The project, led by Shell, aims to deliver competitively priced and stable LNG supply by leveraging existing infrastructure. The expanded facilities are expected to start commercial operations in the early 2030s.
