MNGL and GAIL Upgrade Gas Handling Capacity at RT Talegaon Facility
Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) and GAIL have upgraded the gas handling capacity at their RT Talegaon facility to strengthen Pune's natural gas supply network. The upgrade was part of MNGL's phased network augmentation program aimed at improving network pressure, enhancing supply reliability, and creating additional capacity to meet rising demand for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG).
The upgraded facility has increased the gas handling capacity from 75,000 Standard Cubic Metres per Day (SCMD) to 0.7 MMSCMD, which is approximately 3 lakh SCMD more than the existing capacity. The upgrade will also improve network pressure by about 1.5 bar at the farthest points of Pune's City Gas Distribution (CGD) network.
The Talegaon skid was upgraded with a new 0.7 MMSCMD capacity skid, along with associated piping, hook-up, and integration works. The pipeline looping work at Talegaon was completed in the second half of August 2026, enabling gas to flow from RT Talegaon into MNGL's Pune network towards RT Pune at Chikhali.
