Moldova's energy regulator, ANRE, has raised household gas prices by 29% to €1.29 (approximately 26.14 MDL) per cubic meter with VAT, effective October 1. This is the second gas price increase in 2026, following a cut in February and another rise on September 1.

According to ANRE Director Alexei Taran, the adjustment is necessary to stop negative financial deviations from building up, meaning gaps between the regulated price and actual gas costs. 'We do not produce this type of energy resource, natural gas. We are exposed to volatility on international markets,' Taran said.

ANRE also approved steeper heating tariffs from October 1, with prices rising by as much as 62% in some areas. Customers of Termoelectrica will pay €162.1 per gigacalorie (Gcal), excluding VAT, while those supplied by Apa-Canal Chisinau utility will pay €146.2 per Gcal, excluding VAT.
