Moldova's energy regulator, ANRE, has approved a significant increase in household gas prices and heating tariffs. The new rates will take effect from October 1.

The regulated price of natural gas for households rose by 29% to €1.29 (approximately 26.14 MDL) per cubic metre with VAT. This is the second gas price hike this year, following a cut in February.

ANRE Director Alexei Taran explained that the adjustment is necessary to prevent negative financial deviations from building up. He stated that the regulated prices reflect current market conditions and gas costs, ensuring that suppliers can cover their expenses without interruptions during periods of high consumption.

The new heating tariffs will also be implemented on October 1, with rates increasing by between 32.3% and 62.2%. The average price for households will rise to €162.1 per gigacalorie (Gcal), excluding VAT.
