Moldova Seeks EU Integration through Gas Market Reforms
Moldova's government met with European partners in Vienna to discuss gas market integration and the development of the Trans-Balkan Gas Pipeline. The forum focused on the need for effective cross-border gas trade based on uniform and predictable market rules.
Participants praised Moldova's progress in reforming its national natural gas market, alongside changes in Serbia and North Macedonia. The Trans-Balkan Gas Pipeline was highlighted as a route for diversification, with potential to strengthen regional interconnectivity and expand access to gas markets, including for Moldova and Ukraine.
The meeting also covered the impact of geopolitics on the European gas market, liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies, and the integration of national markets. Additionally, reducing methane emissions was discussed, with a need for clear regulatory requirements regarding emissions affecting gas imports and cross-border trade.
