Moldova's Energy Costs Soar as ANRE Approves New Tariffs
Consumers in Moldova are facing another hike in energy costs as the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) is set to approve new tariffs for natural gas and thermal energy. The proposed tariff for natural gas, excluding VAT, stands at 24.20 lei per cubic meter, which is just 12 bani less than the price requested by Energocom, 24.32 lei.
The final tariff, including 8% VAT, will reach 26.14 lei per cubic meter of gas for household consumers. This represents an increase of approximately 41% compared to the previous price of 14.42 lei/m³. The last gas tariff increase in Moldova took place on September 1, 2026.
Termoelectrica's thermal energy would also become more expensive under the new tariffs, with ANRE proposing a rate of 3.277 lei for one gigacalorie. This is lower than the supplier's requested price of 3.689 lei but still higher than the current price of 2.020 lei.
For thermal energy supplied by CET-Nord in the north of the country, ANRE proposes a tariff of 3.374 lei per gigacalorie, compared to the company's requested 4.313 lei. Consumers in Balti currently pay 2.201 lei/Gcal for this service.
