Moroccan King Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia as Attack on Morocco
Moroccan King Mohammed VI has expressed his support for Saudi Arabia following a series of attacks by Houthi rebels. In separate telegrams to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the king stated that any attack on Saudi Arabia is an attack on Morocco.
The king emphasized that the security and stability of Saudi Arabia are crucial to the security of Morocco, as part of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. He expressed deep concern over the attacks targeting civilian and economic facilities, critical infrastructure, cities, and residential areas in Saudi Arabia.
The conflict in Yemen has been ongoing since 2014, when Houthi rebels seized Sanaa and several provinces. In response, a Saudi-led coalition intervened in support of Yemen's internationally recognized government in 2015. Recently, the conflict has spilled into Saudi Arabia, with Houthi attacks targeting the kingdom's oil infrastructure.
