Morocco Stands with Saudi Arabia Against Houthi Attacks
Morocco's King Mohammed VI expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia following recent Houthi attacks on its territory. In telegrams to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, he emphasized that Saudi Arabia's security and stability are crucial for Morocco's own security.
The king stated that any attack on Saudi Arabia is equivalent to an attack on Morocco itself, highlighting the shared concerns of both countries as members of the Gulf Cooperation Council. He also condemned attacks targeting civilian and economic facilities, critical infrastructure, cities, and residential areas in Saudi Arabia.
King Mohammed VI expressed deep concern over attempts to strike the holy city of Mecca, which he believes intensifies the condemnation of these attacks. The conflict between Yemen's Houthi rebels and a Saudi-led coalition has been ongoing since 2014, with recent escalation leading to Houthi strikes on Saudi oil infrastructure.
