Morrison Warns of Gas Scheme Threat to Japan Alliance

Former Prime Minister Scott Morrison has expressed concerns that Labor's plans for a domestic gas reservation scheme could jeopardize Australia's close energy supply partnership with Japan.

Morrison, now vice chairman at American Global Strategies and strategic adviser to various firms, pointed out three key issues causing tension in the relationship: the gas reservation scheme, the revised safeguard mechanism, and royalties on gas in Queensland.

The plans, according to Morrison, pose a threat to the long-standing partnership with Japan, Australia's biggest LNG customer.
