Motjuan Resources and Commodities has teamed up with LATAM Investment Group (LIG) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to boost the supply of critical minerals in Latin America. The partnership, facilitated by Ochroma Group, kicks off with a 3,000-tonne copper concentrate pilot project in Chile. Motjuan brings global trading expertise and compliance standards, while LIG provides extraction and processing infrastructure. The alliance aims to bridge Latin American production with international demand for responsibly sourced copper.
The initiative prioritizes upstream control, centralized processing, trade finance, and joint venture expansion. It ensures compliance with international standards, supports environmental compliance, and offers stable offtake agreements for Latin American producers. The pilot phase involves LIG’s technical team, including mining engineer Hugo Díaz Hernández and metallurgist Ricardo Duque, with plans to expand across the region.
Executives from all parties highlighted the strategic value of the partnership. Sean Intiomale of Motjuan emphasized the need to combine operational expertise with global capital and compliance. Mauricio Mora of LIG noted the partnership’s role in empowering small and mid-scale miners. Ben Cornell of Ochroma Group praised the alliance for strengthening transparent critical mineral supply chains.
