MSC Group's Explora Journeys Names LNG-Powered Ship EXPLORA III
The MSC Group's luxury brand Explora Journeys has named its third ship, EXPLORA III, in Barcelona. This marks a significant milestone for the company as it prepares to enter commercial service.
The naming ceremony took place in one of the Mediterranean's busiest cruise hubs and an important turnaround port for the brand. The event brought together executives from the MSC Group, representatives from Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, and invited guests to celebrate the latest addition to the Explora Journeys fleet.
EXPLORA III is the first ship in the Explora Journeys fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), a fuel seen across the cruise industry as a transitional step toward lower-emission operations. The vessel incorporates dual-fuel engines capable of running on LNG, along with advanced environmental technologies designed to reduce overall fuel consumption.
The ship's design and amenities are focused on providing a luxurious experience for passengers, including generous outdoor spaces, extensive wellness facilities, and residential-style suites with private terraces.
