MSGBC Basin LNG Production Surges as Regional Pipeline Infrastructure Advances

Gas development across West Africa's MSGBC basin is gaining momentum as LNG and pipeline projects advance.

The Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) LNG project, located along the maritime border between Mauritania and Senegal, began commercial operations in mid-2025 and has ramped up production to approximately 2.4 MMtpa.

This milestone established Senegal as an LNG exporter and provides a foundation for further gas development across the basin.

Mauritania is also pursuing additional routes to monetize its natural gas resources, including the proposed N'Diago combined-cycle gas turbine power plant, which will use domestic gas from GTA to supply the country's electric grid.
