Mumbai Gold Prices Decline Modestly Amid Strong Rally

Gold prices in Mumbai slipped on August 10 after remaining unchanged over the weekend. The decline was broad-based across purity categories, but relatively modest compared to the strong gains recorded earlier in August.

The price of 24-karat gold fell by ₹38 to ₹15,197 per gram, while 22-karat and 18-karat gold dropped by ₹35 and ₹28 respectively. Despite this decline, gold prices remain close to their recent peak, with the metal still trading at a ₹775 per gram premium over its August 1 level.

The strong rally in gold prices between August 4 and August 8 was largely driven by global bullion prices and movements in the Indian rupee against the US dollar. However, today's modest pullback does not appear to be a major reversal at this stage, with gold still up over 5% since the start of August.
