Murmansk Port Adapts to Ship Grain Exports with Fertilizer Equipment

Russia's Murmansk port is adapting to ship grain exports after the Black Sea route closure due to Ukrainian drone attacks. The port, located 2,700 km from Novorossiysk, will use equipment typically used for fertilizer loading.

The direct-transfer system, normally used for potash exports, moves cargo directly from railcars into ships' holds. Murmansk port has also adapted its conveyor systems to handle larger grain volumes.

'For the country's economy, it is important that Russian producers have several reliable options for export logistics,' said Andrei Riznichenko, Murmansk port operations director.
