Myanmar and Bangladesh Revive Bilateral Trade Talks

Myanmar and Bangladesh have taken steps to revive their bilateral trade mechanisms. On August 2, Myanmar's Ambassador to Bangladesh, U Kyaw Soe Moe, met with Bangladesh's Minister of Commerce, Mr. Khandakar Abdul Muktadir, to discuss expanding trade in various products, including agricultural goods, fisheries, rice, and pharmaceuticals. They also discussed the resumption of the Myanmar-Bangladesh Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meetings.

The two ministers agreed to enhance maritime transportation and import liquefied natural gas (LNG). Additionally, they focused on facilitating the repatriation of displaced persons. Ambassador U Kyaw Soe Moe also met with Bangladesh's Minister of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Iqbal Hassan Mahmood, to discuss the proposed Myanmar-Bangladesh gas pipeline project.

The meetings aimed to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries. They also emphasized the importance of maintaining good neighborly relations. The discussions were attended by senior officials from both countries' ministries and departments.
