Myanmar's Ministry of Electricity and Energy signed a Domestic Gas Supply Agreement (DGSA) with PTTEP International Limited, a Thai energy company. The agreement, which was years in the making, will see natural gas from the Mottama Block M-3 project used for domestic electricity generation in Yangon and Ayeyawady regions.

The project, signed in 2004 but delayed due to various reasons, is expected to be completed by 2028. Upon completion, natural gas will also be distributed to fertilizer production factories.

According to Union Minister U Ko Ko Lwin, the DGSA is a significant milestone for the Ministry, marking a contract on enhancing crude oil production and domestic consumption of natural gas during the tenure of the new government.
