National Gas Prices Soar Amid Ongoing Middle East Conflict
The national average price for regular gas has reached its highest price ever for this time of year, surpassing $4.07 per gallon.
This is due to elevated crude oil prices and the ongoing closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which continues to put upward pressure on pump prices.
The Oregon average price for regular gas has also increased by five cents to $4.72 per gallon, reaching its second-highest price ever for mid-August since 2022.
Crude oil prices have been above $80 since August 10, driven by concerns over global oil supplies and the conflict with Iran.
