Natural Gas Demand Hits Record High, Global Supply Surges

Global natural gas demand reached an all-time high in 2025, increasing by 1.7% year-on-year to 4.202 trillion cubic meters (bcm), according to the Global Gas Report 2026.

The report, prepared by the International Gas Union (IGU) and Snam, shows that global natural gas supply and liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade also reached record levels last year.

Global natural gas supply rose by 52 bcm from a year earlier to a record 4.147 trillion cubic meters.
