Natural Gas Forward Prices Edge Higher on Record September Heat
Natural gas forward prices rose during the September 9-16 trading period due to record heat in September, which kept power burn at summer levels across the South and limited storage injections below seasonal norms.
The Southeast hubs saw an increase of more than 20 cents in natural gas forward prices. In contrast, the Waha discount deepened by 22 cents. Additionally, power burn ran 7 Bcf/d above its 2025 average.
