Natural Gas Futures Struggle for Direction Amid Conflicting Signals
Natural gas futures struggled to find direction on Tuesday as traders weighed conflicting signals from near-term weather forecasts and production data. The November contract was searching for a foothold at the front of the curve, with prices influenced by bullish expectations for liquefied natural gas (LNG) volumes.
Weather demand is easing, which could normally be bearish for natural gas prices. However, production levels are shy of 107 Bcf/d, and NGI expects an injection of 63 Bcf this week. LNG volumes are expected to remain strong, providing support to the market.
The conflicting signals are creating uncertainty in the market, making it difficult for traders to determine a clear direction for prices. As a result, natural gas futures are trading within a relatively narrow range.
