Natural Gas Hubs Show Mixed Price Trends as Autumn Arrives
As the autumn shoulder season progresses, the price trends in North American natural gas hubs have shifted significantly. Currently, only about 40% of hubs are trading above year-ago levels, a sharp decline from the more than 90% that were higher in late August when summer temperatures persisted. This change reflects the cooling demand typically associated with the transition into autumn.
At a glance, every Western hub has surpassed 2025 price levels. Canadian natural gas prices have risen from double-digit cents, while the Waha hub has seen swings exceeding $9. These fluctuations highlight the volatile nature of natural gas markets during this period.
The article also notes that NOVA/AECO C, Texas Eastern M-2, 30 Receipt, Waha, and Westcoast Station 2 are among the key hubs being monitored. Factors such as power demand and weather continue to influence price movements across these regions.
