Natural Gas Prices Edge Up on Cove Point Restart Speculation
US natural gas prices have ticked up as production in the Lower 48 states has eased and traders bet that Berkshire Hathaway Energy's Cove Point LNG export plant is close to restarting.
The November futures settled at $3.035 per mmBtu, the highest close since September 25th, after a modest bump reflecting a slightly tighter short-term balance.
Data from LSEG shows Lower 48 output averaging 112.2 billion cubic feet a day so far in October, below August and September's record 113.3, while LNG feedgas flows dipped to 17.0 from 17.9 in September.
