New Gas Cylinder Rules: Commercial LPG Prices Cut, Domestic Prices Unchanged
Several new rules are set to take effect in August 2026 for Indian households' gas cylinder usage. One of the major changes is a second consecutive cut in commercial LPG prices, despite elevated crude oil prices. The price drop will range from Rs 192 to 209 across major cities.
The commercial LPG price in Delhi has dropped by Rs 192 to Rs 2,738, while in Mumbai it's down by Rs 194 to Rs 2,691.50 per cylinder. In Kolkata, the price is lower by Rs 209 to Rs 2,872.50 and in Chennai by Rs 200 to Rs 2,906 per cylinder.
However, domestic LPG prices remain unchanged for the second consecutive month, with a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder available at Rs 942 in Delhi, Rs 968 in Kolkata, Rs 941.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 957.50 in Chennai.
The government has also directed domestic LPG customers covered under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) to complete their Aadhaar-based eKYC by August 16, 2026, or they will be ineligible for receiving LPG subsidy benefits.
