New Holland Unveils ForageCam for Real-Time Kernel Processing Scores
New Holland North America has launched ForageCam for its lineup of FR Forage Cruisers. This system gives producers real-time kernel processing scores (KPS), allowing them to monitor live crop flow and quality and optimize performance to hit their target KPS.
Patrick Weitzel, forage harvester marketing manager for New Holland North America, emphasized the importance of feed quality in forage harvesting. 'For dairy and beef producers, feed quality is the most important indicator of forage harvester performance,' he said. With ForageCam, producers can instantly assess the quality of their forage as it runs through the harvester.
ForageCam works by continuously analyzing chopped corn crop flow with AI-powered vision. It monitors the percentage of fully processed kernels and compares it against predetermined target processing levels set by the operator. This allows ForageCam to automatically adjust the kernel processor to achieve optimal forage quality, reduce under-processing, boost productivity, minimize fuel consumption, and lower machine wear.
The KPS monitoring and mapping data captured by ForageCam can be viewed live in the cab on the IntelliView IV Plus display or later via detailed reports and map layers in FieldOps. Producers can set their desired KPS based on livestock type, ensuring every corn kernel is properly cracked to maximize nutrient absorption and improve overall animal nutrition.
