NGPL Seeks FERC Approval for 550k Dth/d Pipeline Expansion in Texas
NGPL has submitted a proposal to FERC for a significant pipeline expansion in Texas that will supply natural gas to Google's planned data center in the region. The proposed project would add 550,000 Dth/d of capacity to NGPL's existing network, bringing the total to 228,800 Dth/d plus the new compression adding another 321,200 Dth/d.
The new pipeline is a response to growing demand for data centers in the region. As technology companies continue to expand their operations, they require significant amounts of energy to power their facilities. Google's planned data center is one such example, and it will be powered by natural gas supplied through NGPL's network.
However, there is a caveat - Texas has implemented a permit freeze on new infrastructure projects, which may impact the timeline for the pipeline expansion. Despite this challenge, NGPL is pressing ahead with its plans to bring more capacity online to meet growing demand from data centers and other users of natural gas in the region.
