Nigeria Meets OPEC Quota for Fourth Month with August Oil Output

Nigeria's crude oil and condensate production rose to 1,677,777 barrels per day in August 2026, marking the fourth consecutive month the country met its OPEC quota. The increase of 0.4% from July's output is attributed largely to the resolution of operational challenges involving the Single Buoy Mooring at the Erha field.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission stated that crude oil production, excluding condensates, stood at 1,500,190 barrels per day during the month. Daily crude oil and condensate production ranged from 1.64 million barrels at its lowest to 1.71 million barrels at its peak in August.

The Bonny Terminal recorded the highest average output at 320.04 thousand barrels per day, followed by Forcados with 317.40 thousand barrels per day. Despite the month-on-month increase, August's output was 57,621 barrels per day below June's record of 1,735,398 barrels per day.

The regulator noted that stakeholders remain focused on improving asset reliability and operational resilience to support sustained production growth and maintain compliance with OPEC production quotas.
