Nigeria is considering increasing its gas production in response to the global natural gas market's instability caused by the war in Iran, according to Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Ekperikpe Ekpo.

The war between the United States and Israel against Iran has led Nigeria to expedite its gas projects, with a focus on building a pipeline between Nigeria and Morocco to attract investment and boost liquefied natural gas production on the international market.

Nigeria is targeting Europe as a key destination for its gas exports, given growing demand in the region. To reduce household liquefied petroleum gas prices, which remain high in Nigeria, the minister plans to implement measures to transition millions of households from firewood, charcoal, and kerosene to gas.

The government also aims to reduce gas flaring and accelerate 20 gas projects by reaching the final investment decision stage by 2030.
